That Place called Far Away

‘There’s Grandpa on the road down there!’
“No, that’s not him, he doesn’t wear
a turban on his head, though, yes
his beard’s a bit like that, I guess!”
‘Will Gran and Grandpa come today?’
“No, where they live is far away,
they hope to come here soon – we may
before too long go there to stay.”
“When we went to Far Away
it took us nearly all the day
then fun exploring, different play –
an interesting holiday.
“In Far Away, when I awake,
no aeroplanes loud noises make
it's very quiet, and close by
there's fields and farms, and hills go high.
“In Far Away there’s rooms downstairs
and then a bath and more upstairs
and Great-Gran’s living somewhere near –
she likes me talking, but can’t hear.

You are so good at writing
You are so good at writing from a child's point of view! Defining a person because of a strong feature, like a beard, or even just being very old. I remember when very little visiting my granny who lived in a basement, going downstairs to get in, and indoors, no stairs! And the idea of Far Away being a place, the only place that is not here, where everything strange comes from, you explain why it is so easy to believe in magic when you are little!
