Powerful Rescues
By Rhiannonw

Each year they remembered
how they had been saved,
their slavery severed
for God intervened.
Remembered the power when
that Pharoah was King –
subdued in the hour when
our God conquered him.
Selecting them out for
Egyptians despised
this Sovereign much greater
than schemes they’d devised.
Now Christians remember
their judgement’s release,
when Jesus, their Saviour
redeemed them to peace.
The power of the devil
in binding to sin
was broken and evil
can no longer reign
in all those who truly
receive offered grace –
now free, captured fully
in God’s good embrace.
The Israelites tasted
his power that sustained
with kindness that lasted
just as he ordained.
Our journey’s unfolding
along hardship’s way
we trust his upholding
from now day by day.

King of Kings
King of kings, Lord of lords. For us the chosen people, salvation and mercy sometimes comes suddenly and unexpectedly. Just hang on! The words are beautiful. Sometimes I wish I could hear your hymns actually being sung. I'm not really familiar with the "tunes" the sheet music either.
Maybe? Some? Sometime! Tom Brown

The word "salvation"
The word "salvation" is used not only for that Rhiannon but also for freeing from physical threats and danger, oppression or exile of God's people. Could be? Maybe I did it wrong your word "rescue" is perhaps better. The word "delivered" is even more ambigious.
This was refering to "pharoah" and the worldly "power of the devil". There are many stories in the Bible where Isreal was saved by direct intervention.
As for the journey's end, the earthly destination, maybe it's like an operation where you get narcosis and sleep and wake up when it's over. I choose to think of death as sleep.
All the best! Tom
