Progress!

Winter’s retreating
the cycle’s repeating
easing the hold
of the annual cold
the globe’s slowly turning,
green’s growing returning
bit by bit, a steady drip –
feel winter slip
and spring’s firmer grip
daylight increasing
the earth releasing
green spears
white tears
of snowdrops.

Winter retreated here, but it
Winter retreated here, but it seems to have come back again today, so it's nice to read your hopeful little poem and admire the green shoots - thank you Rhiannon!

'white tears of snow drops.'
'white tears of snow drops.' I loved this line, and how the poem brings Spring ever closer. We have our snowdrops coming through now all over the our village, and on Sunday we have our snowdrop festival at our church and the grounds of the old vicarage.

Andy Williams sang...
Andy Williams sang, 'It's the most wonderful time of the year!' I don't think he meant February but if they'd asked me to sing it instead of him, that's certainly what would have been going through my mind.

It certainly is Rhiannon.
It certainly is Rhiannon. Already we have things sprouting up all over the place. At the beginning of March nature seems to explode in Bulgaria.

Gorgeous, Rhiannon! And the
Gorgeous, Rhiannon! And the energy of the rhythm is like Springtime's bustle charging up outside :0) I was hoping, when I saw the snowdrops in the woods, here, that you would do a snowdrop poem this year :0)

It's a bit grim and murky
It's a bit grim and murky here (it tried to snow yesterday but gave up and retreated to rain) but there are the odd signs of new life. A couple of days ago I marked the momentous day in my diary - it was still proper daylight at 5pm! When I worked that was always the point when I felt things turn, when I could at least start the walk home in the light. And another celebration when I could get all the way home and it was still light!
