Scenic Variations of the Wye

Curved meander of the Wye,
cow parsley waving fringe,
field of meadow buttercups,
Canada geese here,
swans there
– then a bevy, one upending,
then another, then another:
feeding, satisfied;
clouds reflected in the river:
gently flows on, rolling, rippling –
meander ends, so on
beneath the wooded hill.

How can anything be more
How can anything be more beautiful than to meander along the river Wye. It sounds and looks like paradise and your photos set the scene along with the gentle words in your poem.

to start with I thought wow
to start with I thought wow what gorgeous photos, how could you make a poem to match, but you HAVE, as the photos are still but the poem is full of movement, just as we look around, you show the cow parsley, the buttercups. Then the movement of the birds. Then the brilliant
gently flows on, rolling, rippling –
meander ends, so on
the repetition of "on" like the repeated curve of a river, the last 3 lines so slow, slipping into my mind like cool river water
