[Continuing the hymn-for-Sundays series]
Seek the Saviour, God’s own Son.
Do not rest until you come
what he did here to perceive,
what he offers to receive.
Ideas strange some may devise,
pleasant dogmas based on lies,
comforting awhile, but fail,
crashing ‘house of cards’ so frail.
History gives record clear
of the Saviour coming here,
what he spoke of, and his acts –
simple, uncontested facts.
Mighty God brought all from nought,
sad that we his rule have fought,
sent a Saviour to bring life,
who could free our hearts from strife.
Each of us can seek and find
him who is so wise and kind,
but don’t spurn him – while there’s time
make a Friend of Christ divine.
Tune: 77 77 eg Nottingham (attrib. Mozart) (tune of ‘Take my life and let it be’)
