[Continuing the hymn-for-Sundays series]
Greed attacking gratitude,
discontent with what’s received;
whingeing, wanting something else –
Satan many has deceived.
Want to ‘get’ more than to give –
what’s the greatest thing to own?
not possessions physical –
Jesus Christ’s salvation known.
If we sometimes have abundance,
still temptation to want more.
When in straitened circumstances,
all you’re needing trust God for.
If we do, we learn his goodness,
taste, experience faithfulness
of our Father, freed from lusting,
and enjoy supplies of grace. Tune: 87 87
The Apostle Paul said, "I have learnt the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength." Philippians 4:12,13

western society and materialism
Yes it is so our western lifestyle, democracy and capitalism, makes people (us) extremely selfish and to rely on money instead of God. Individual rights and “human rights” are also often abused for personal gain and interest.
Remember that Jesus said of tax give to the Caesar his due, as well as the fact that his disciples collected money and for the poor. It seems He Himself was subjected also. Well this is the world and he came in the (fallen) flesh.
We must realize that these beautiful verses of Paul can be interpreted in different ways, indeed, in different translations too. One has to be very careful.
Your lyrics have unforced rhyme and good rhythm, it appears natural and easily, one should be able to sing it it could work.
