A sense of infinity

Implanted in our heart
an awareness of infinity,
of unseen things, eternity
we cannot contemplate completely
or conceive,
but the skill that us constructed
has its image, glimpse imparted
though shaded by conceitedness,
floundering independence
masking unacknowledged ignorance
of such dimensions supernatural,
omniscience and power
beyond our finite sphere,
but a clear direction came
a revelation to explain
from the Ruler of the spirits
to everyone who here inhabits
to lift the shading shadow, show
our place in the eternity
and spiritual prosperity,
felt peace experience with transcendent Judge.

Nice thought, Rhiannon. Well researched. I often wonder what might have happened if Paul had kept walking and remained Saul. They say Jesus was a decent sort.

The 'ifs' of life all unkown. That Jesus was a 'decent sort' is rather an understatment! but maybe does highlight that he was no weak wimp, or uninterested in straight-forward helping of those struggling. Reading the gospel accounts if you haven't recently can be eye-opening as to the honesty and relevance of his actions and words. Rhiannon

Read them all at some point. Old Testament and Qu'ran, too. Had a bash at Buddhism but can't get into it. I keep thinking of picking Geza Vermez up again: "The Changing Faces of Jesus". Controversial but erudite. Yes, an understatement, but there's not an awful lot to go on historically. I always struggled with leaps of faith - Paul, John or Karl. Well, followers of.

I think there's more historical evidence for Jesus' life than for Caesar, apparently. I think Vermez tries to say Jesus didn't claim to be divine, but his words recorded are very clear on that point, that he didn't claim to be just a good man. Anyway, it's probably worth re-reading some of those gospel narratives, which aren't written like propoganda and are reliable (and praying to understand their meaning!). Faith is acting on facts, not a 'leap in the dark'. Rhiannon
