Somewhere better?

This world is very weary
with germs that make us ill,
with pain, pride, greed and anger
inciting men to kill.

But, if we find a new world,
well, will it be just right
– warmth, food and air to breathe, prove
a pleasant, pleasing sight?

And what will we export there
if some of us fly in?
Some skill? some germs, some quarrels?
some jealousies, much sin?

One day, God says he’s making
a new earth with no pain,
no crying and no illness
– all perfect once again.

A home of righteousness, he
has promised to create,
we should pray that he mould us
to fit that holy state.
