[Continuing the hymn-for-Sundays series]
Having fasted, Jesus, hungry
heard the tempter tell him to
‘Turn the stones to bread, for You are
God the Son, so this now do!’
Jesus, quoting from the scripture;
‘Man lives not on only bread,
but on every Word God uttered.’
– Read His Words, your souls well fed.
Times of famine are great hardship –
times for sending caring aid.
But when famine of the hearing
of God’s Word, be more dismayed.
Matthew 4:2-4
Tune: 87 87 trochaic

the last supper
In the two miracles of fishes and bread one thinks of on the mountain in Galilee and when Jesus fed a multitude with only two fishes and 7 loaves of bread. Also, think of manna in the wilderness and “give us our daily bread” in the Lords prayer.
And then the last supper and the sacrament of the holy communion, goes much deeper actually, and even to the beginnings of man as a social being. It is symbolic of togetherness and gratitude. The Bible and church places great material as well as spiritual value on bread, and the breaking of bread.
Believe and trust in God our provider and in Jesus our saviour.
Just some ideas. Have a great week Rhiannon! Nolan &
