[Continuing the hymn-for-Sundays series]
I’m thirsting for the love you bring,
as in a lonely land,
my God, I sing beneath your wing
of succour from your hand,
remembering when wake at night,
in darkness know your light,
my happy thoughts are are fixed upon
my God – my heart you’ve won.
To you my soul will always cling
your arms uphold me still,
of faithful goodness ever sing –
richly my soul you fill.
Men mock, your mighty being scorn,
think me a fool, forlorn.
They turn a blind eye to your face
and do not grasp your grace.
Tune: DCM eg tunes of ‘O liitle town of Bethlehem’, ‘It came upon a midnight clear’, or ‘I heard the voice of Jesus say’
Based partly on Psalms 63 and 42
