The sweet can turn sour!

He wished he’d win the lottery
– excited when he won,
but didn’t know how with that win
real troubles had begun.
He wished that he could now retire
and stay awhile in bed,
but when redundancy came in
he wished for work instead.
She wished for quiet in the home
to sit and watch T.V.
but when they left the nest she found
she missed their company.
Some wished for cherries, red or gold,
and popularity,
but found they turned to sour grapes,
provoking jealousy.
But some just wished to use to best
their small ability,
weave helpful words, be satisfied
fruit of their sweat to see.
