Thrill

What a surprise
to rise
to such a sight –
all covered in white.
It looks
like we’ve seen in books.
What funny stuff!
Is it enough
to make a snowman?
Fingers so icy,
cheeks pink,
eyes bright –
help to pick and pile,
and in a while
twigs and stones
for mouth and eyes,
and for a nose …
‘Can we have a carrot,
please?’
“Say ‘cheese’!”
[Inspiration Point: use Fire, Earth, Water or Air. ] I suddenly thought after writing this, that snow is an interesting form of water!

The thrill of snowfall
The thrill of snowfall through the eyes of children. Nicely done, Rhiannon. Yes, we have snow in Northants today too. Paul :)

Hi Rhiannon,
Hi Rhiannon,
this is a seasonal poem that children will love. The snow in the garden has definitely made me feel more Christmasy. I love the snowman in the picture too.

no need to apologise! I was going to say how a snowman makes winter perfect for a child in my initial comment - then I remembered how for so many children this year especially, it probably means a very cold house and very worried parents
