Scrambling up the old overgrown quarry cliff
to see more of the far (though hazy ) 360º views
wandering around in the blasting refreshing gale.
Brown Clee HIll (slightly higher though less dramatic)
to the north,
and the alien-looking radar globes on stilts
(surfaces of hexagons and pentagons –
not so white when seen close to).
Two kites wheel around above,
but no flowers peeping here
on this exposed surface of stunted and dead grass,
moss and light grey lichen patches.

Look like a giant's golf ball! Even has a tee underneath :0) Thankyou so much for sharing another of your wonderful forays, that slope looks awefully steep!!!

Thank you. It was just that last part we had to scramble up as there is a carpark below (full of puddles and potholes!). The 'giant golf ball' can be seen from afar (as a tiny golf ball catching the sun!) looking like an observatory but I think they are to do with radar. My husband got a photo of the smaller of the two with the spike on its top apparently sticking into the moon! Rhiannon

It isn't an exceptional place, Tom, but not everyone lives near these wide open hills, and I think some liked my brief description of being up there on a blustery day with the far views! regards, Rhiannon

Thanks. And there are remains of an ancient fort there and more recent quarrying. Ellis Peters had the rogues using the hill as a fort in one of her stories. I think it was 'The Virgin in the ice'. Rhiannon
