When your life is shaken,
feeling bruised and broken,
never lost, forsaken,
though your life is shaken.

From despair you’re lifted
though by Satan sifted,
faith, by God is gifted:
from despair you’re lifted.

Jesus says he’s praying
when he sees you straying,
tempted, disobeying,
Jesus still is praying.

Let him succour, leading
in his shelter feeding,
as he’s interceding,

Excellent. As far as poetry goes and the music, rhyme rhythm all of it brilliant. One could definitely use the hymn in church. Beautiful.

PS. I wonder how many of the traditional hymns we grew up with are still used in church service? It seems more like choruses, guitars drums etc you know for the young people maybe they should do more to attract older people too!

Maybe I would enjoy church more since I've stopped smoking. Used to sneak in and out while the minister was praying. For a smoke.

interesting comment about older hymns being more attractive to older people!

Actually a lot of older hymns contained a lot of concentrated content, reminding of the wonderful teaching about God and his salvation in Christ, and the Christian pilgimage, problems and helps. And those thus stimulated praise, while quite a lot of the modern choruses concentrate on saying we are praising, rather than reminding us of all the reasons we have to give praise! Our chapel uses a mixture of old and new, and tries to choose amongst the new carefully.

I'm sure if you find a church where the Bible is taught helpfully, you'll be glad to stay through for preaching and prayer, and won't even notice the time passing! Rhiannon
