Trumpeting!

They’re out!
a golden shout
from verge –
they glow erect
the sparkling sun reflect,
a trumpeting cheer,
and from a hedge
a chorus hear –
the chatter-songs of birds in spring.

Hi Rhiannon,

lovely to read your poem about the daffodils and be reminded of the chatter songs of birds in spring. I have to say that I'm so enjoying this cold weather, even though a lot of people long for the warm weather, it's lovely to walk in and wrap up warm.

I like the freshness of the cold, too, Jenny. But after the storms here in Herefordshire and the dark days, rain and flooding, the sight of the sunshine on newly opened daffodils on Sunday was a delight! and the chatter of birds increasing too. Rhiannon

Apart from loving daffies, this has always been such an iconic view of England for me although lately, since visiting Ireland, it reminds me of Cork too. Such lovely memories evoked.  Thank you, RhiannonW.
