Click on the kitchen light
in dark of night; –
a rude awakening,
such a sight:
upon the tile a big brown slug:
ugh!!
Don’t touch! remove
with card or glove
or plastic bag,
or rag –
off the floor,
through the door.
A slithery, silvery trail
upon the mat.
– Insert in tiny space
a sealant plug,
don’t want again to face
a slimey slug
that’s squeezed and wriggled through again!

I had that same experience a month ago working a sleep-over at my place of work.
It had crawled out of the dampness of the utility cupboard below. I got some card and threw it out the window… So I really enjoyed your poems shock value! ugh!! :)

I too could identify with this, Rhiannon.
Only yesterday there was this enormous flying thing in my kitchen. At first sight I though it just large bee, and then I realised it was its wings that were striped orange and black, with a beetle like body.
Looked it up in all my insect books but couldn't find reference to it anywhere.
Very much enjoyed your poem and thanks for posting;-)

Hi Rhiannon
Hi Rhiannon
I'm going through some of your back catalogue, and like this - short and to the point and a subject that I wholely concur with.
