Uncle Claus

He travelled far, he travelled wide,
never was he satisfied.
Nowhere to escape or hide,
no young girl who’d be his bride.
Then one day this house he spied.
Needing much repair outside,
liking what he saw inside,
and the view there, vista wide.
So, he bought it ‘for a song’,
and worked hard ‘till all was done.
Then he met again the lass
he had loved in primary class.
Since he bought this little house,
no more discontent and grouse,
with his darling Jane, his spouse,
no regrets for Uncle Claus!
[IP: Buyer’s Regret (in this case none!) I started with imagining a house named ‘Buyer’s Regret’ like, ‘Mon Repose’ but this little happier story intruded instead!]

Ah, you stand no chance
Ah, you stand no chance against a story that's made its mind up where it's going!
Lovely response to the IP, Rhiannon. Brought a happy smile to this reader.

Adroitly done, Rhiannon. Rhythm, rhyming and a good story :)

Nice
It's nice when an estate agent's doer upper sees a happy ending.

Well said, Rhiannon. Not
Well said, Rhiannon. Not everything in life is a disappointment. There are choices that we make that we actually cherish.
A nice poem, full of good rhymes and positivity.

Such a likeable little story within your poem Rhiannon. The rhythm and rhyme are spot on too.
