Under fire from pelting ice
granules, like gravel chucked,
crunching underfoot –
soon melts,
sun shines, briefly.

brilliant!!!

I love all the consonants at the beginning and the longer vowels and softer consonants at the end, wish I could write like this! I LOVE  your musical ones :0)

Oh, thanks, Di. I think it is my Welsh background that loves consonants. I'm always surprised at your eye for analysis or the sounds. My mother-in-law enjoyed this little one again, and you should have heard her saying 'crrrunched' – very onomatopoeic (and she isn't Welsh!)!

I'm not sure I' ve been out in hail before, and I wanted to get down a record of the feeling! Rhiannon

It's quite painful, isn't it? I remember being out in the open and having to open my coat so my son could hide his face

mm, I can imagine that. I had a good thick hood on, but I was surprised at how hard they were bashing! Rhiannon

Hi Rhiannon,

This is very short but very economic and I love the onomatopeaia, (which is one of my favourite words). It is very much like gravel being crunched, then the sun comes like a resolution, albeit briefly.
