weather whatever

Whether the weather be cold,
or whether the weather be hot,
whatever the weather, wherever the weather
it brings with it such a lot
of ice-breaking conversation
re the latest variation
which blows down barriers,
and melts the strain –
whether sunshine bright or heavy rain
or blustery wind or surprising hail,
there never will fail
a topic for friendly natter
that today its turned out for the better,
or serious comment and lengthy discourse
of the fear that soon it’s to get much worse –
no stormy topic, commuters can share
their opinion and hopes for a weekend fair,
or the need to hurry for snow to prepare
and check the forecast for what to wear –
though the forecast “summer-y” may turn out shivery,
or the threat of rain may veer off again –
a climate that’s mildly unpredicatble
gives a constant source of interest protractable …

You're right, Rhiannon -
You're right, Rhiannon - sometimes it feels that the weather is now the only 'safe' topic of conversation! I like the way you use the weather metaphor for the way we talk about it.
Just a point - you've got an 'of' in the second line when I think it should be an 'or'?
