What I don’t understand is …

… newspaper comments shot off without thought
on articles improperly read;

accusations without humility,
pleasure in others’ exposure
with no thought to personal skeletons
cleverly buried, no awareness of
planks in one’s own eyes and judgement;

condemnation of loving parents for
comprehensible and brief discipline
that results immediately in resumption
of family fun, and surprise
at eruptions of parental temper, and violence
when they have been encouraged to do
little and children’s innate misbehaviour
left to grow and torment;

the discarding of the testimony of the historic
Jesus because his words not
understood properly without
prayer for enlightenment
or even reading his words carefully;

and I don’t understand the manipulation of
science to discredit the obvious
conclusions of design in nature,
and catastrophe causing the fossil record,
and the distortion of the evident
comparatively young age of our earth;

but I do understand that we all
would rather criticize others than
face our own hearts, and seek
the friendship (with confession) of the
Supernatural Owner
who knows us through and through.
