Alpha and Omega 3 - new place

The sun shone brightly
as Alpha leaned
on the maple sapling.
His alligator green blended
in with the parkland.
“Where is Omega?
he wondered.
They were supposed
to climb Jacob’s Ladder
today.
“Are you worrying about
little ole me?”
a voice sweetly asked.
It curled as woodsmoke
ahead
of a young Zebra.
She pranced into view,
hooves clicking on the
stony path.
Her stripes were
as straight as if someone
from morning Bible class
had drawn them.
They climbed steep stairs
as best friends
right to the top of the hill.
“Who’s that
beside Paul’s Holy Well?”
Alpha asked.
“Oh, a couple of Floppy Joe’s”
Omega answered.
With a whirr of wings
two partridges
dipped and tucked their way
through the many trees below.
From up here
Alpha and Omega were able to see
their busy community.
There were barky dogs and
purring cats
and deer and turkeys
burping frogs and
butterflies
and ravens and eagles.
All walking, flying
working on nests or chatting
together.
This is where
Alpha and Omega belonged.
This is their place.
