With you by my side

life creates a new chapter –

 

it began with a vow

tied by rainbows

at each end of the bow

 

and you the guest of honour.

 

Years later we still

enjoy the flame  

 

past adventures like a wind

rushing by trays of memories

 

a living fiesta and children

part of the equation –

 

they’ve moved away now

into a life of wishes and great

conviction

 

and still after 39 years your

eyes retain a glitter

of love that amazes me.

Thank you Luke, for your kind words, and thanks for the cherries! I try to encourage couples at every opportunity. For instance I believe they should sit togetherat church, dance together more than with others and to go for one on one trips, leaving the kids with someone responsible. End of rant.

Thanks so much, Vera. I did not get married until 32, and have never regretted waiting until I established working roots. Then Esther came into my life and she has been perfect for me, and I sure appreciate our almost 39 years together. This poem is a tribute to my love for her. Esther likes the poem, too --- yahoo.
