And from this
ancient of an ancient
woodsman cabin
natural sounds revive the energy
of ages past-
a porcupine munching
on a corner of wood
nearby beaver
chomps on a firm
branch of poplar limb.
A background of memories
provide a finale
to the lumberjacks
who weathered seasons
of hard work
in this forest
of forests – the smell
of coffee no longer radiant.
