Begins a Journey

Placing an arm upon his wrist
eyes focus on her man, he’s
resting now oblivious to surroundings
in the path of dementia’s pain

yet love abounds from a basket of memories
as limbs respond, sluggish
in his world, yet peace abides
and tears add to her knowing heart.
