Of what value is a poet?
Can the world gain from their
expertise? Will people shake and
shudder if there are no pretty words
to read? And lastly a Requiem:
here is one who---
brought tears to my eyes
a human trait once forgotten
sharing memories of the way life
was and allows a comparison
reminds us of the beauty which
surrounds us as we capture different trails
and above all---it is a slap on the cheek
a little tap that all is worthwhile
and the poet is one who does alert us
to our sense of love and belonging.
The Requiem should read:
“One who did the right thing.”
