The Blue Jay

is more than a fluff of feathers
landing on my feeder
in a swoop of early morning

enjoying the nuts
a quick swing of beak and off to munch
into smaller particles---

a bird of wisdom and beauty

splendid in a ritual of blue shade
like an ocean’s wave
a current of expression with energy

more like the wind.
