Bark-less and shivering

yet perfect

for an eagle’s

perch-

 

this tall tree

a pillar

of strength

within an independent

view of

bone-white

amidst a forest

of green.

Is it a tree struck by lightening? I love their shapes, honed and silhouetted against the sky or greenery. When we were children my father, I think every other year, cut a branch of ash and painted it white (snow) with some glitter on it as a Christmas tree instead of the usual, and we loved decorating it. Hello Rhiannon- the lone perch space at the top of a selected tree is honed by the weather. Yes, either lightning chopped off the top, weathered the bark and eventually branches died off and fell away. Not far away is their nest about six feet in width. We have many bald eagles in Nova Scotia, mainly in Cape Breton, the northern part. I love sharing my work - however I cannot access Facebook with my wounded computer so my readers are really low. Too expensive to buy another lap-top. Re; nest - you should see a full grown eagle landing on three growing  babies, then there is the mate. Warm and cuddly, eh? Thanks for the encouragement.
