Boy Scout Days

In the early

1950’s being a

boy scout meant

adventure & daring

& on a summer

campground us 11-12

year olds marched

to the lake

for a morning wash.

Lay on tummy

and face the chill

of washing face &

skinny arms.

Bravado wore on

my shoulders

as I stuck my head

under to prove

my manhood as I

froze myself

into an icicle.
