with a fly-swatter

means avoiding your wife

completing a crossword

puzzle at the table-

ducking

the living room transom

as you leap and

swing at will

and miss

then boot away a lone

teddy bear in

the middle of my

runaway path to success

as I continue to

swat across

space in front of my face.

Finally my wife

stops her favourite

pastime and asks

“What are you trying

to do?”

“Nothing” is my

meek response.
