DROPPING ZONE poem

Dropping Zone
is a flutter of feathers
descending from awnings
as pigeons sweep to the street,
their sentry spotting
a morsel flung
onto the sidewalk
by
some
passerby
perhaps too full, or…doesn’t
really matter
leftover pizza promises an
interesting lunch.
Anxious wings
and probing beaks send
shoppers scampering
knowing
fowl friends have nasty
weapons in their
arsenal of droppings.
