I am a whisper

in the breeze

a shadow of speed

 

an updraft of

glory-wind snatched

me from

a highway

of mountain cliff

 

now diving

at missile speed

I close the

gap

to my unaware

prey.

I always said I wanted to come back as a protected eagle, to soar and glide without fear must be the most amazing experience.

Love this poem Richard, a tribute to a most magnificent bird.

Thank you Jenny for such encouraging remarks. My wife, Esther and I took a high country ride last week and way up on a ridge of road, Esther spotted an adult bald eagle proudly perched on the tip of a ten foot tall stump barkless and just on the edge of the cliff overlooking a panorama of wild woods with a small river far below. My poem followed this perfect senario. -R

PS. We were about 15 ft. away in our car and the beautiful creature was not alarmed.
