EYES poem

Eyes
can see through
this comatose body
a smile masking thoughts
of the person inside
while in the room her
family gathers
decision now made to remove
the life flow
but unknown to them
a mother already knows
words discussed over and over
flared anger during times
of sorrowful exchange
tears heard from loving children
a father
not realizing his
loved one absorbed it all.
She too made a hard decision
to let go
since the cancer has done its
evil deeds
too far gone the
doctor said
treatment no longer taking hold
and time is upon them
family moment has arrived
hands held together in prayer.
She loves them. If only her
lips could part and eyes share
their face with words
of understanding.
Dance for me. Yes, dance for me
she whispers in her thoughts.
