A Family Landscape

Night sky provides a celestial
necklace of
diamond pin-pricks
above a Cape Breton village.
At home Nathan
promotes his report card
and dad’s lobster
catch, something else.
Now mom lays quietly in
the silence, her man asleep
in the darkness,
son in the next room
counting blessings she
does, her family
a castle of dreams.
