First Date 1955

The first time
I dated Irene
sure felt good
to be old enough
and allowed to
dance close after
all the staying
apart rules with
arms extended as
feet tried not
to trip over
each other and
saw her nervous
she was as me
a 13 year-old
moving erratically
across the high
school floor
teachers monitoring
our emotions and
I wondered if
marrying this girl
might be a part
of life’s plan.

innocent fun
I remember my first date too Richard. Sometimes I think of how young people these days get to know and have innocent fun. No jokes I don't think they have the social skills, it was hard enough for us. My girl wasn't really popular with the boys but I liked her a lot. She was clever and she had guts. Her life after school was very tragic she was very long sick with brain tumours and after a fight of many years she passed. I tried to be good for her.
All the best and God's peace & Nolan
