A Forest of Miracles

I can see everything
you do moon said --
no secrets from me.
My light at night
patrols the smallest
corner. And I’ll
be watching you.
The tree shuffled her
branches and hid
a little miracle from
moon’s glare. A new
sprout seeking life
wanting to grow up
and be more than free.
It would not happen
if a moose trotted
by and munched the
tender branches
of such a little one
and the moon’s spray
of light would surely
point him out.
What are you doing
down there the moon
asked once again –
I’m shifting branches
some are worn from
scraping and needing
much care the tree
replied with a bark
full of grin.
