HERE I SIT

in the living room of my
deceptions
TV an instrument of choice
in different zones
of human emotions—
should I watch an old Western
or reality issues?
Divorce and the dread of pain
within emotional
experiences are not my
glass of club soda – helps
with the demand
to fill the cry for thirst
fulfilled and
I comply with a trip
to the fridge.
Read a short story
Reader’s Digest engaging
a painting by my wife
causes a thoughtful viewing
although I have seen
it a hundred times.
A puzzle intrigues me
and game of chess causes
my brain to swirl
with moves to exhaust anyone.
I am alone in the warmth
of my apartment – dear wife
in the other room pounds
on computer keys—
she taught me
how to play the same game.
Drooping eyes signal
sleep has arrived.
Life is thinking out loud
and laughing hard and noisily.

I like this poem, it's comfortable to read. Makes me think of two people who understand each other and are relaxed enough to let each other do their own thing, yet come together when the time is right.

I forgot to say, Richard - we have to have a picture for the FB and Twitter pick, but if you would prefer another image on here, please do replace it. If you do, please confirm that it's either available under a creative commons licence or that you have the right to use it. We're just a wee bit paranoid about getting sued for copyright!
