Home Sweet Home
Paws thunder across the
kitchen floor as punishment
for ears still sensitive
from last night’s pub-crawling
watches me as eyelashes
raise from a feline face
my head pounding. Hard for her
to understand the way I feel.
I apologize for being late
with breakfast. And she continues
to stare. Can't make up her
mind to eat or go outside
she decides the latter. "Meow"
opens the door.
