I Am a Mountain

of ranges – among a land
of whispers. The Cascade Range
where flat-topped rock
foundations create a pathway
to the sky – eagles swarm
to introduce themselves
from thermals that lead them
into oblivion and
back again.
I am a voyeur trying to understand
the game
as I float above in a Boeing 747
unknowing of the demise
of this artificial bird
aloft and yet cradled in the millennia
of shear cliff sides.
I am a memory of greatness
amid the humility of this great Canaland.

song of the eagle
John Denver has a beautiful song of the eagle "I am the Eagle I live in high country .. . .. I am the Hawk and there's blood on my feathers .. " He wrote such incredibly beautiful songs and many of them almost exstatic.
See you Richard! Nolan

from canada
The reason I thought of him is that he was actually originally from Canada. But your poem is very good!
Not feeling so great, anyway life goes on.
Cheers! Nolan
