I Dream

of winning something so
huge my eyes
will cry
and my mom will too.
If only my soles
did not go flap-flap
I would give all my money
away. Then I could
help my friends –
Billy has to get eats at the Food Bank
and he’s shy about that –
sometimes I go with him
because that’s what friends are for.
Today we found somebody’s wallet
but we had to give it to the Police.
Mommy said so.
Daddy’s not here anymore
so I couldn’t ask him.
I am eight years old. And my name is
Johnny.
