A Long Term Care Facility
By Richard L. Provencher
- 1335 reads
“How great Thou art”
a lady whispers
aware of His presence since
SundaySchool lessons--
she knows she’ll be going
home soon.
Ears listen. Eyes fixated
on an overhead light
green dress impacting visitors
wheelchair at attention.
Scratches her leg a daily exercise
tummy feels full.
Dinner was peas
chicken and potatoes – lettuce
was crispy too.
Also tea with dessert of ice
cream – a cherry on top
like the setting sun.
And her smile fades as she
seems to diminish in
shadows sway.

So many places where there is
So many places where there is such loving care. And little signs of peace and of a consciousness little understood. A person I know would probably not remember what lunch actually was, but maybe be remembering meals long past! Rhiannon
