From My Rented Cabin

The lake is a swirl
of current activity
and
ducks swoop
below clouds of gray
blankets,
rain
sprinkling
as speckled trout poke
noses
at
their watery skin.
Mosquitoes dance
upon the surface
dock creaks, birds sing
evening bids a
farewell smile
and loons are
silhouettes of imagination.
Silence, Beauty, Nature
a friend of memory.
