Some windows are broken, three on one
side and two on the other
it’s a faded worn down building,
the garbage
always late for pickup
easy pickings for the strays,
neighbours always complaining
papa toils for just enough
to get by
and yet his children are
so cheerful
and without worries
not caring they’re so poor,
living their lives each day
having fun and all.
