One Son

An only child
tears begin
locked in rules and steel bars
tears flow.
Not able to produce a son
adopted the lad as a baby
grown too soon
bad company
further years restricted
when the law came to claim
him.
At seventeen fought the charge
lost at trial
behind bars 25 years or more
tears pour.
It’s ok to cry momma.
