Orderly Re-Union

We are
puffed-up-with-pride
grandparents
watching our little ones
in the backyard-
full of energy
crackling
lightning bolts
with daring
on flying wings
climbing high higher
copied from our
own antics
before too many
sunsets
escaped horizons ago-
those days
of Roy Rogers
and horse-riding
imagination followed
by swinging until
supper-time found us.
Both Grandparents
now made a wish – one to
have a short nap
and the other looking
around for a swing
to ride.

A childhood memory we can all
A childhood memory we can all tap into and reimagine the exhilaration of. Lovely, and I especially enjoyed the idea of the grandchildren as lightning bolts. It's our Pick of the Day. Do share on social media. (The painting is a Winslow Homer from here: https://commons.m.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:WLA_hmaa_Winslow_Homer_Girl_on... - I hope it's ok.)
