The Other Side

Some say I ended up
living in the wrong direction –

I’m from across the tracks
where cars are rusty
and housing mostly apartments

the cut of your clothes
haircut and the thickness of
wallet too often

determining a future.

I rise beyond limitations --
from limb to limb I can climb
to stars and beyond

barriers no long restraining.
