Outdoor Retreat
Pausing as
a summer shrug, canoes
hush as
evening bats
in carefree slumber
aside
the lakeshore
where sunset rays
are a-blaze
in
colourful shades.
Honored guests
we are, this breathless
night
ears attuned to
the call of
loons, their
eerie serenades
that linger
from an ancient past.
