Illumination feted by the diamond glint
in your wife's eye -

a robin’s hippity-hop trek across lawns
seeking food for young ones -

cars fast-tracking tires on avenues
of asphalt speed -

sign on the approach to a little town
Welcome it says -

the sky full in charades of moisture
rainfall soon -

baby mine watched over his jingly toes
and cute nose -

cell phones attired in colourful view
conversations muted -

flowers eking a response from shoppers
appreciating scented flavours -

at the end of day’s journey we accept
a piece of cake - white.

Good ole scratch, always so encouraging. Thank you. I saw pieces of a cookie on the table, and thought, what if each one had a story to tell? It was fun putting this story-poem together. Heat wave is on, phew. Richard

It's like the monsoon season here in the UK! Traditional British weather mixed in with global warming, a seriously vindictive mix of the natural and the man made!

We have had our weather topsy-turvy. Snow and rain storms used to always start in Canada then go to the USA. Now, it's the reverse. And what we get alternates, these days, with rain then heat and reverse, over and over for variety. Cheerios, Richard
