Poem A Boy's World (c)
By Richard L. Provencher

A Boy’s World
is a boy’s world. Time
to round up friends for a
game of ‘scrub’
our neighbourhood’s
favourite game.
Harry brought his mom’s
Sears to cover first--
Lee uses his shirt for second
and Herve marks third
with his sneakers -- loves
to run the bases in bare feet.
Me? I brought a birthday
bat and ball. Oh yes we found
a clump of mud for home
plate. Play ball.
Author Notes:
“At the end of growing-older days we remember with fond memories – baseball or scrub as we called it. Most children could not afford any equipment so we improvised. Teams were a mixture of all ages.”

Intriguing little memories of
Intriguing little memories of another era, and your childhood.
Sears to cover first- - did you mean 'shears'?

What sweet reminiscence when
What sweet reminiscence when we walk ourselves backward into childhood, so descriptive and suggestive of a warm summer day mingled with freedom and simpler days. Loved reading this.
