PORTUGUESE COVE NOVA SCOTIA poem

Portuguese Cove Nova Scotia
At dockside herring-bait smells
escape lobster boats
wood-slat traps displaying
jam-packed claws
clambering for space
and harbour’s movements
a continuing bedlam of activity.
The panoramic bay flushes
whitecaps riding a windy tattoo
nearby cabin like a flimsy
moustache on hill’s rocky lip
where a fisherman
dreams of nets repaired
buoys newly tarred
all within a yard’s clutter of
lobster pots.
