Prologue for a Hermit
Around Gully Lake Willard
found
calm in his spirit
saw plunging streams
grow larger in their passage
footprints marched under
sun’s dancing stare
hiking ridges he loved
seeing valleys
in bloom
his spirit lively
among the deer.
Eagles were part of his
private space
a habitat for any season
and we are kin in the
remembering.
